What is Listmonk?

Listmonk is a high-performance newsletter and mailing list manager. Import subscribers, design campaigns, and track opens and clicks, built to handle millions of messages with ease. It composes and queues campaigns but does not send them: you connect your own email provider, such as Brevo, and pay them for what you send.

Who this is for: Anyone whose mailing list got big enough to hurt.

Sending is not included

We host Listmonk. We do not send your campaigns. Before your first one goes out you need an account with an email provider, and you pay them for what you send. Brevo is the simplest place to start, free for the first 300 emails a day with no card and no cap on contacts, and any other SMTP service works if you already have one. Keeping the sending yours is deliberate: bulk mail stays off our shared relay, so nobody else's campaign can affect your delivery and yours cannot affect theirs.

Questions

Does it send the email itself?

No. Listmonk composes, segments, and queues. The sending is done by an SMTP provider you connect in Settings, and you need one before your first campaign goes out. Brevo is the easiest start: 300 emails a day free, unlimited contacts, no card. Any SMTP service works, so use one you already have if you prefer.

Can I send through ModernHost's mail service?

Not for campaigns. Our included mail relay carries transactional email, the password resets and receipts your apps send, and bulk sending is kept off it on purpose. One customer's campaign complaints would land on everybody else's delivery. Your own provider keeps your sending reputation yours.

Can I import an existing list?

Yes, by CSV, and it handles large imports without falling over.

Is my deliverability my problem now?

Partly. You control the sending domain and its reputation, which is more work and more upside than sharing a pool with strangers.
